Helping Hands

Falcon Children's Home has been providing a home for children for over one hundred years. Established in 1909 it has been estimated that approximately ten thousand lives have been either directly or indirectly touched by various programs.
One such program is a fully equipped work shop where students are able to learn all methods of woodworking. The class is an extra curricular class which the students choose to attend. The instructors are volunteers available to teach the students and I am happy to say that I am one of those volunteers.
All of the tools and materials have been donated to the school thanks to the efforts of one man, John DeGreef. He was instrumental in getting the wood shop started and it has grown from the back of his pickup truck to a large converted warehouse, on site, at the children's home.
The students are totally supervised while learning to operate a multitude of equipment. They have completed or will complete such projects as designing and creating pens, skateboards, patio chairs and keepsake boxes with more projects in the future.
Some of the items, they are creating will be available for sale at Harvest Train this fall.
Each of the five volunteers specialize in one form of wood working or another.
Please watch for future information on the Falcon Children's Home and it's volunteers.
